Holy land for many football shirt collectors, Es De Epoca not only has a fantastic curated selection of retro shirts, but shares its space with a coffee shop and a film photography business. They work to be a space fans can feel comfortable hanging out and occasionally host match-watching parties (though it’ll be tight so head here early to avoid spilling out onto the road).
In the bohemian neighbourhood of Roma Norte, expect to find anything from signed Real Madrid shirts, old national team shirts, classic Liga MX shirts … basically, if you like shirts, this is the place to visit. It’s a truly unmissable visit for collectors and football fans alike, as the little details like a Pique World Cup ’86 clock, Subbuteo players and vintage pendants galore, make it a heady nostalgia hit.
On weekends, there is a wonderful flea market at Jardín Dr. Ignacio Chávez, just a few minutes away from Es de Epoca on foot. In a little park, shaded by tall trees, you can easily spend hours sloping from crammed stall to stall finding everything from Mexico ’86 memorabilia to ceramics to old photographs and antiques. You must bring cash as we found out to our chagrin and had to leave empty-handed as attempts to find a cash point nearby proved fruitless.
A casual half an hour walk away, Jugador 12 is another wonderful shirt shopping experience. A bit more of a standard sport shop than Es de Epoca, it does have a brilliant range of merch, including t-shirts and caps.
